Tucked within the eucalyptus groves and rolling hills of Dune Lakes, there's a quiet hum of magic happening—literally. Welcome to Coastal Gold, our on-site apiary where hardworking honeybees craft liquid sunshine in the form of raw, organic honey.

These bees aren't just busy—they're artists.

Each hive at Dune Lakes has its own personality, shaped by its queen, its workers, and the surrounding wild flora. The honey they produce reflects this individuality. Some hives yield light golden nectar with floral notes, while others drip deep amber honey with hints of sage, citrus, or eucalyptus. The flavor? Always a surprise. Always local. Always exquisite.

Honey varies in both color and flavor depending on the hive and their chosen forage. Our honey ranges in color from a very light gold to a deep amber. Even hives right next to each other can produce vastly different honey. The flavors vary as well with notes of blackberry, sage, eucalyptus, citrus and more.

Spring Swarms & Beekeeper Ballet

Spring marks the beginning of swarm season—a thrilling time when our resident beekeeper dons the veil and heads out on a treasure hunt. New swarms are gently collected from the land, reinvigorating the hives and ensuring the apiary continues to thrive.

Tending to the hives is a never-ending job for a beekeeper.

It’s a delicate dance between nature and nurture, tradition and sustainability. Our bees are wild at heart, but deeply rooted in the rhythm of this land. Their forage range spans our sand dunes, wildflowers, eucalyptus, and nearby coastal vegetation—producing a true taste of the Central Coast in every spoonful.
